Welcome to this capacity enhancement workshop on Fitness for Use of biodiversity data, convened by SANBI-GBIF, an initiative of the South African National Biodiversity Institute. Participants in this course will be exposed to the key areas of data management relevant to the production of data that is fit-for-use in biodiversity research and assessments that ultimately inform policy development and environmental decision-making.

Arthur Chapman
Mr. Arthur Chapman, a world renowned expert in biodiversity informatics, dealing mainly in data management and quality control, information analysis, environmental modelling, development of environmental decision support systems and information presentation. He is currently the co-convenor of the Data Quality Interest Group of TWDG, the leading global community on the development of Biodiversity Information Standards.
